Zero-Tolerance to Abusive Behaviour
(Applies to RollerHub UK: School of Excellence and all RollerHub-affiliated programmes/teams, including Fife Fury. Aligned to BIPHA standards and expected conduct within UK roller hockey.)
1) Our commitment
RollerHub UK is committed to providing a safe, respectful, inclusive environment for everyone. We operate a zero-tolerance approach to abuse, intimidation, discrimination, harassment, and threatening behaviour across all RollerHub activity, including RollerHub-affiliated teams and programmes.
2) Who this Code of Conduct applies to
This Code applies to all individuals involved with RollerHub activities, including all RollerHub-affiliated programmes/teams (including Fife Fury):
• Players (junior and adult), parents/guardians, spectators
• Coaches, volunteers, officials, staff, contractors
• Visiting teams/clubs and anyone representing RollerHub or RollerHub-affiliated teams
It applies:
• In the facility, car parks, entrances/exits, changing areas, café/social areas
• During training, matches, tournaments, camps, trials, meetings and events
• On trips and travel arrangements organised by RollerHub / RollerHub-affiliated teams
• Online and in digital spaces connected to RollerHub activity (group chats, social media, emails)
3) RollerHub’s zero-tolerance standard
RollerHub will act immediately when behaviour breaches this Code.
• Safety comes first.
• We will investigate and record incidents.
• We will report matters to relevant bodies where required (e.g., league/association, safeguarding, police).
• We will apply sanctions consistently, regardless of role, status, or ability.
4) Behaviour that breaches this Code
This includes (not exhaustive):
A) Verbal abuse & intimidation
• Swearing at, shouting at, insulting, mocking, humiliating, or threatening anyone
• Aggressive confrontation, deliberate intimidation, or coercive behaviour
• Persistent negative comments, taunting, or “banter” that causes harm
B) Discrimination, harassment & hate
• Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, religious, or other discriminatory language/behaviour
• Slurs, hate speech, or degrading gestures
• Sexual harassment, unwanted sexual comments, or inappropriate contact
C) Physical aggression
• Any assault, pushing, grabbing, spitting, throwing objects, or fighting
• Attempting to enter the rink/bench area to confront participants
• Damage to property or equipment
D) Bullying (including online)
• Repeated targeting, exclusion, coercion, gossiping, doxxing
• Harassment via group chats, abusive messages, or public shaming
E) Abuse of officials/coaches/staff
• Abuse directed at referees, coaches, volunteers, staff, or event organisers
• Undermining safe instruction, refusing reasonable safety directions, or threatening consequences
F) Safeguarding-related behaviour
• Any behaviour that places a child or vulnerable person at risk
• Grooming behaviours, boundary violations, or inappropriate supervision conduct
5) Minimum expected standards
Everyone must:
• Treat others with dignity and respect
• Follow facility rules and staff directions immediately
• Promote safe, fair play and positive support
• Raise concerns appropriately (report, don’t confront aggressively)
• Remember: adults set the tone, especially in junior environments
6) Immediate action when this Code is breached
RollerHub may take any of the following immediately (including without warning depending on severity):
1. Stop play / pause session where safety requires it
2. Separate parties and support the affected person(s)
3. Remove the individual from rinkside / the venue
4. Call security / police / emergency services if there is risk or a suspected crime
5. Trigger safeguarding escalation where a child/vulnerable person is involved
6. Record the incident (facts, witnesses, times, actions taken)
7) Sanctions (what zero-tolerance means in practice)
Sanctions will be proportionate and can include:
• Verbal warning (low-level, first-time only; not used for hate/threats/assault)
• Immediate ejection from the venue (no refund)
• Temporary suspension from sessions/events
• Removal of spectator privileges (e.g., “drop and go” only)
• Removal from coaching/volunteering duties pending investigation
• Written warning, extended ban, or permanent ban
• Reporting to governing/league bodies and/or police where appropriate
Automatic escalations (typically immediate ejection + investigation):
• Threats of violence, hate speech, discrimination, spitting, physical aggression
• Any abusive behaviour towards a child
• Entering the playing/bench area to confront others
• Continuing abusive behaviour after a clear instruction to stop
8) Reporting concerns or breaches
Reports can be made by any participant, parent/guardian, coach, official, or spectator.
Report to:
• The on-duty session lead / head coach / event manager immediately, or
• A designated Welfare/Safeguarding Officer (if appointed), or
• RollerHub management in writing (email or incident form)
Please include:
• What happened (facts), date/time, location
• Who was involved and any witnesses
• Any immediate safety concern
• Any evidence (messages, screenshots, etc.)
Confidentiality: Reports are handled sensitively and shared only on a need-to-know basis, except where safeguarding or legal duties require disclosure.
9) Safeguarding
If a child or vulnerable person may be at risk, RollerHub will follow safeguarding procedures, which may include:
• Immediate protective action and appropriate supervision
• Referral to safeguarding authorities/lead bodies as required
• Reporting to police where a crime is suspected
• Suspension of the alleged individual pending outcome
10) Online conduct
Abuse on chats/social media connected to RollerHub activity is treated the same as in-person misconduct and may lead to bans and reporting.
11) Publication, agreement and review
This Code of Conduct will be:
• Shared at registration/booking and displayed in the venue
• Supported by staff/coach briefings and an incident recording process
• Reviewed annually (or after significant incidents / rule updates)
